Worship
This Sunday, we’ll be talking about worship – and specifically, worshipping God together. What are we actually doing, when we come together to worship our Risen Lord? What does that mean? How can we understand this biblically? How can we grow in it?
Psalm 27:8 says this: “My heart says of you, “Seek his face!” Your face, Lord, I will seek.”
The phrase ‘to seek someone’s face’ has a certain meaning in Hebrew. It means to seek an audience with them. When we seek God’s face, we are seeking an audience with the King of Kings. We want to stand before him and speak with him face-to-face.
David felt this constant cry from his own heart – “seek his face!” That’s the desire of the worshipper to come into the presence of God.
When we gather together each Sunday, we gather into the presence of our Risen Lord Jesus. Jesus himself said in Matthew 18:20, “Where two or three gather in my name, there am I with them.”
